Phil Parsons

My name is Phil Parsons and I started working at Fanfare in January of 2014.  I like to think of myself as a well-rounded and open minded nerd.  I am into gaming, whether it be video, board or card games.  A couple of my favorite games include the Borderlands series of video games, Epic Spell Wars of the Battle Wizards: Duel at Mt. Skullzfyre, and Five Tribes.  When the mood hits me, I dabble in Magic: the Gathering as well.  I am constantly looking for new games to try, so I am always open to suggestions.

Comics are where my passions truly lies.  The first comic I ever purchased was the Green Lantern Annual #1 from 2012.  I bought it from Fanfare.  Josh Upson was the one that sold it to me.  I am still a big Green Lantern fan but it is not just Green Lanterns anymore, it is the whole Lantern universe.  As of right now I also read a good mixture of independent comics, mostly sci-fi and horror. I also read several titles from Marvel and DC.   My all-time favorite writer/artist is Skottie Young and I have collected nearly everything he has written or drawn.

Being a nerd or geek is no longer a label anyone should be ashamed about.  It is something about myself which I take pride in. This is why I love working at Fanfare. At Fanfare, we try to break the negative stereotypes that are associated with comic stores and treat everyone as equals.  So, if you are ever in the area and want to chat about comics, board games, or Skottie Young, stop on by.  Trust me I can talk about his artwork all day if you get me started.
